Now that the New Year has arrived, have you taken the time to plan your 2017? Strengthen the foundations of your business by creating some goals and make a plan for the year ahead. Be sure to look at every angle or possibility for growth or improvement. Today let's consider education and staffing goals as two priorities to consider. What educational opportunities are you and your staff interested in? Have you made plans to attend classes?

Education

Every year it’s a great idea to encourage your staff to stay current with latest trends by taking classes. This will ensure your business remains competitive in your area of expertise. Also, it’s always a good idea to give your staff some choices in the type of classes to attend. The buddy system helps to create excitement in attending educational classes and it establishes camaraderie among your staff. Get these classes on the calendar and be sure to schedule them well in advance to avoid any interruption in your staff's schedule.

Staffing

What are your staffing goals? Did you turn away business last year? If so, you may be ready to increase your staff and there are several ways to do this. My personal favorite is to take on an apprentice. This way I can train my staff the way I like to see services provided. You can also put the word out to your clients and existing staff for any potential candidates, it’s surprising how many clients know of a service provider who is looking for a change. Get onto these two tips minimize stress and maximize the potential of your business. Embrace the new…and Happy 2017, may your business prosper! Tune in for my next Wink - I'll be taking a look at retailing products in your salon.
