Dance and Water - Go Mode

Have you heard of the expression "Go-Mode"? We work hard and play hard. It sounds cliché, but we see it a lot in our clients and ourselves as busy professionals in the beauty industry. Go-mode can take a toll on the nervous system and lead to anxiety or burnout. We all need to prioritize our bodies through the strategic use of our downtime. In this post, I'll outline four ways high performing women in go-mode can spring into opportunities without burning out. Here we go!

1. Splish and Splash

According to many experts, one of the best things to balance and de-stress is to play in the water. Also, drinking a cold glass of water or running your hands under cold water is a great go-to when you don't have time to make a splash in a pool or tub.

2. Dance Party for One

Preferably, do this one in the morning. Wake up, pick a great song, and have a mini dance party! Dancing gets your heart rate up naturally and puts you in your body to start your day. Once set, you can then start thinking and managing the focus required to create your next set of beautiful lashes.

3. Shake It Off

Shake, shake, shake - literally! This one is slightly different than taking a dance break. Set your timer for one minute and for the entire minute shake, jump, and wiggle. Don't stop until the timer goes off. This will move any stuck energy in the body, calm you down, and make you look radiant. If you're up for it, go for two minutes. It may look a touch silly, but embrace it – it's great practice to relieve stress, anxiety, and frustration. As a bonus, if you have little ones around, this practice is a great way to help them cope mid-tantrum.

4. Squat it Out

Take a squat! Getting out of your head into the lower body works wonders on calming the feminine nervous system. Try bending your knees and squatting against a wall to give your back support. Take at least four big breathes here to relax any tension or clenching in the pelvis. This one is a perfect practice when you feel nervous, overwhelmed or if you are suffering from decision fatigue. For more in-depth movement based tips and exercises for the busy lash artist, check out some of my earlier posts from my Move, Lash, BE Better series. Next time you are stuck or feeling a little overwhelmed, try to remember to take a few minutes out and utilize some of these techniques. Have fun Lash Lovers and make sure to share if you have any other fun calm-down tips in the comments section!
