Wink What To Expect When Your Client Is Expecting

Hormones affect hair growth. Depending on the pregnancy, most women will experience changes in their hair cycles, pre and post birth. You might notice your client's lashes looking thicker than ever before. Although it may appear that your client is getting more eyelashes, what is really happening is that the lashes aren't being shed at the same rate. During pregnancy the rate of hair shedding slows down dramatically. Higher levels of estrogen prolong the growth phase, resulting in less shedding of hair. Post birth lashes won't be as luxurious and while it may appear that your client is losing lots of lashes this is not the case. The body is simply returning to its natural hair shedding pattern.

Changing Positions

Clients cruising into their second and third trimester should not be laying on their backs for extended periods of time. When pregnant clients lie on their backs, the weight of the uterus presses on the major vein that returns blood from the lower body to the heart. Constricting this blood flow can interfere with the circulation of blood and nutrients to the placenta and baby. Although there are some women that are not affected by this, I recommended taking precaution. Have a discussion with your expecting clients about their needs, and their doctors advice. Laying on the left side allows for maximum blood flow, though either side is better than on the back. For my moms-to-be, I have them lay on one side for half of their treatment, and then switch. Extra pillows are required and the ideal option is afull-length body pillow for maximum support and comfort.

Schedule a lash appointment as close to due date as possible. For those of you that have brought life into this world you know looking picture perfect can be a real luxury. In my opinion, the must have beauty product for giving birth is eyelash extensions. There is nothing better then rolling into delivery, make up free, with the most luscious lashes you've ever had. Plus, in the days and weeks following the momentous life event there is little time for yourself, and lashes make you feel good. :) I recommend making an eyelash game plan with your client, so they have fresh lashes that will last them during those sleepless long weeks.
