Have you been thinking about adding lash extensions to your service menu? Lashes have been around for a long time and are here to stay. This is a beautiful service to offer your clients. In just a short time in your chair, you can transform your client from having short sparse lashes to having full and fluffy lashes with curl, definition, and texture. Not to mention the financial reward from offering lash extensions are huge! Many lash artists are rockin' the lash community with amazing income! If you are ready to take the leap, here are some things to help you on your quest to the perfect lash training fit for you.

How Do I Find the Right Lash Training?

The following questions come up quite often about finding the right lash training:
  • Who has the best training?
  • Where should I look to find a great trainer and program?
  • What products should I use?
  • Should I take a class that is one-on-one or one with multiple students?
  • How many days are the class?
  • What is the cost of lash training?
  • These are just a few of the most frequently asked questions about lash training.
My first advice is to ask your co-workers. They may know someone who has completed a course and has a successful clientele. If you don’t have those resources, check out the linked lash artist directory to find an eyelash extensions trainer.

What to Consider When Choosing a Lash Training Provider

It is important to know which companies or independent trainers are reputable when choosing who or where to do your lash training. Some questions you want to ask yourself about your last training provider include:
  • What are their credentials?
  • How many years have they been lashing?
  • Are they licensed, insured, and certified?

How to Get Lash Training Certified?

You should receive certification from your lash training once you have completed your training. Certified means students completed a course, completed the course homework, and received a certificate from their trainer, affirming they have completed all requirements. Some training just requires you to complete the class and receive a certificate at the completion of that class. Unfortunately –and this is just my personal opinion – there is no way to check and see if a student is following the training protocols without them sending their practice set requirements to their trainer. Many other training programs require more oversight. This helps to check for technical discrepancies before the certificate is issued. Check out social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest for trainers and training programs. Many post training classes dates and locations on the page. Ask questions and find out what the class training covers. You should ask questions like:
  • Is there a student manual?
  • Is there a kit that is sufficient for practice sets?
  • How long is the class?
  • What are the expectations after the training to receive the certification?
  • Does the trainer offer follow up support if needed?
Glad Lash has a Lash Artist Directory that allows you to create a page for yourself. This makes it easy for potential clients to find you as a lash artist. The Glad Lash Directory also lists all of our trainers in the Glad Lash Academy Training Program, with local contact information. Use the directory if you need to find a credible lash trainer and happy lashing! If you just got sucked into the world of lashing, stay up-to-date by checking out the Glad Lash blog here!
