We all know and love social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and YouTube. But did you know about podcasts? If you don't, then let me introduce you to them. If you're already a podcast user then skip the explanation of what a podcast actually is and jump straight to my top three picks of beauty podcasts that you should follow and listen to!

What is a Podcast?

A podcast is a digital audio file made available on the internet for downloading to a computer or mobile device. Podcasts are typically available as a series, new instalments of which can be received by subscribers automatically. So essentially, it is just like downloading a song from Amazon Music or an audio book to your device. Podcasts are kind of like a YouTube channel. You can subscribe to a particular podcast and you then receive notifications when new audio episodes are available.

Why Listen to Podcasts?

You can listen to podcasts and learn about something of interest as you go about your daily life - whether you are in the car, waiting in line, at the gym, washing a car or making lunches for the kiddos. Maybe you're thinking that in the world of beauty listening to someone speak just isn't as good as watching them. But I'm here to tell you that there is a lot to be gained from listening to interviews with beauty experts.

3 of the Best Beauty Podcasts

Go to iTunes and search for these beauty podcasts. You will be able to download, subscribe and of course listen to these podcasts at your leisure. Believe me, you're going to learn a lot about beauty! Breaking Beauty co-created by Jill Dunn and Carlene Higgins "is about the bestselling beauty products and the damn good stories behind them." Both of these beauty industry vets give you an insider's look behind the scenes of great brands and products, as well as creators of well-known brands. They are great interviewers and attract stellar guests like the co-founder of Smashbox Davis Factor and hot makeup artists like Hung Vanngo. This Week In Makeup is a weekly podcast, which speaks to some of the biggest names and companies in the makeup world and brings their stories to life. Their reach is far and wide and they cover everything from influencers to cosmetic brand founders. I just listened to the podcast featuring Melanie Mills from 7-26-17 and it was very interesting to say the least. She talks about how she got her start in the biz, being Emmy nominated for 'Dancing with the Stars' and also creating her very own beauty line. Very cool! The Beauty Brains has real scientists answering your beauty questions. It's informative and explains theories and debunks myths surrounding all things beauty. Very valuable for the discerning makeup junkie!

Learn More about Beauty

These are just a few essential beauty podcasts that I personally recommend. I get inspired by listening rather than watching someone speak or do a makeup demo. Learning involves more than just doing - it's also important to wrap your head around the why, the how and the who. I highly suggest that you get listening to these podcasts the next time you are in the car driving in traffic or working out on that treadmill! And of course please don't forget to subscribe to Glad Lash's many social media platforms for some awesome LASH knowledge. We always love the opportunity to connect with our audience!
