When it comes to makeup, I love DIY... So I have a 'Do It Yourself' post for all you 'Space Savers' out there! If you are a makeup and beauty product freak like me, you probably have an abundance of items like blushes or eyeshadows that are NOT in palettes, but are spread out on your sink tops, in your drawers or hiding behind the cookie jar. Whatever your case may be, I have the solution for you. By "depotting" and creating your very own palettes, you can downsize and make your life easier and more clutter-free!

Choose Your Palette

Depotting makeup from bulky packaging allows you to make any type of palette you desire. Let's start by getting an empty palette. Z Palette has many different size and color palettes to choose from. This is not the only company you can go with, but it's a start. You can use any empty case you choose that works for you.

Heat It Up!

Next, you will need a form of heat... A lighter is a great option. Apply heat to the bottom of your makeup container until the glue that holds it into place is loosened up, and then you can gently remove the makeup part and put it into your new and improved, always to be used and never to be forgotten palette! It's that simple! If you wish to take it up a notch, you may get magnetic backings to go onto your makeup and palette as well to magnetize your upgraded beauty situation. Fun, right?! Please practice with older products first so you can get used to the process, and then do your newer items. After you get the 'depotting' thang down, you can purchase refills and not spend as much money buying those single items again. It's a practical and money saving alternative for us organized peeps. For more storage ideas to keep your makeup in order, read this article.

Don't Stop at Eyeshadow

You may use this same concept with lipsticks. Get yourself an empty palette that has deeper sections. The same concept applies when transferring your product. Slice the lipstick solid from the base of the lipstick tube when rolled all the way up, and place it on a spoon. Apply heat until it melts. Then, pour it into your palette, and when done simply refrigerate for approximately 30 minutes until it is somewhat hardened again. Done and done! No more fuss, and you can actually see what amazing colors you have to wear!

New from GladGirl

Of course, if you find yourself with not much time to become a depotting master then YES, you can always buy a pre-made palette of your choosing... GladGirl has an amazing new eyeshadow palette that is a real crowd pleaser, and has a beautiful natural color story that most everyone can wear. Nice! :)
