“Baby, it’s cold outside,“…teeth chattering…snow falling…bundling up…brrrrr, I think you get the picture. We have previously tapped into beauty for HOT Summer Days but let’s explore beauty for VERY COLD winter days. This my friends is what this blog is all about – YAY!!
We can probably all attest to having experienced the brutal cold in one way or another. But, how do we compliment the extreme weather outdoors with our beauty routine indoors?
Switch up Your Skincare
The air in colder climates can be harsh on your skin. During winter, it’s a good idea to switch up your skincare routine so you can put your best face forward. Use cleansers that are rich in hydration and that don’t contain supplemental ingredients, which will dry out your skin. You may also want to exfoliate a couple times a week with a gentle facial scrub to help remove any dry skin and prevent flakey patches on your face. If it’s windy on top of being cold, use a moisturizer with SPF and apply every couple of hours to shield your skin from the elements and stop it from getting too ruddy or red.
Keep Your Base Light
For your makeup base, I would suggest a light BB or CC cream that is formulated with SPF. These are basically tinted moisturizers that are lighter than normal foundations and depending on the brand, they can be correctors as well. Your cheeks will naturally flush in the cold weather but if you would like a touch more color, just add some cream blush to the apples of your cheeks and allow your natural beauty to shine through.
Let Your Eyes Take Centre Stage
Lips have a tendency to get dry and chapped in the cold, so winter is a chance for your eyes to shine! Eyelash extensions are actually the perfect lash accessory for cold weather because they accentuate your eyes and make them the central feature of your face. You can also boost your use of makeup around the eyes and use waterproof products to help with tearing up. Please remember that if you are rocking eyelash extensions you must avoid waterproof mascara. Even with your eyes as the focus, you shouldn’t neglect your lips. Keep your pout nice and plump by drinking plenty of water and applying balms with hydrating ingredients like beeswax, shea butter, vitamin E and almond, jojoba or coconut oils.
Winter certainly takes it’s toll on skin but these helpful hints will help you reclaim your WINTER skin health! #SkinSense
