Make It Up Monday - 4 Charitable Cosmetic Brands You Need to Know About

Brands Give Back

As the world around us springs back into action during this splendid time of year, I am always inspired to think of different ways to give back. In 2016, I wrote about some wonderful organizations that are dedicated to 'giving back' to the community. I feel, it's time to focus another Make It Up Monday on these types of fantastic innovators... And, I have found four "beauties" to share with you:

1. Glad Lash/GladGirl

Let me start with one that's close to my heart, Glad Lash/GladGirl. The GladGirl beauty product range is constantly expanding, and I can't wait to share them all with you. GladGirl takes great pride in mentioning that its cosmetics are cruelty free, vegan, and paraben free. The makeup and beauty line ranges from eye shadow primer to elegant liquid eyeliners and extensions safe mascara... With much, much more to come! And, for every purchase made during Breast Cancer Awareness month, in October, Glad Lash gives a percentage of each sale to the Susan G. Komen foundation, an organization that does so much for cancer research and support.

2. Thrive Causemetics

This company has the motto, "Beauty with a Purpose". For every product purchased, these guys donate one to "empower a woman thriving through cancer or domestic violence". A valiant cause! Thrive’s products offer a variety of subtle colors and textures. And, with a neutral color palette, can be enjoyed by all complexions. Thrive offer a range of vegan items. This conscientious company is making an important difference - not just to the consumer, but also for the community.

3. Juice Beauty

Each year, Juice Beauty allocates a portion of revenue to donate to the Breast Cancer Fund, and the EWG (Environmental Working Group). Both organizations conduct research in order to educate the buying public about the harmful chemicals that can be found in some beauty products. To find out more about what these chemicals are, read my article about five common toxins you might find in your makeup case. It's pretty serious stuff! Their products are organic and natural/ vegan - without animal testing, and include beautifully packaged skincare, and a comprehensive makeup line.

4. Make Beauty

Make Beauty is new - even for me - which is super exciting to discover. Their product line is paraben-free, and has had no animal testing. 10% of their sales go to the We See Beauty Foundation, supporting women-led and worker-based cooperative businesses around the Americas! Entrepreneurship enrichment? I love it! They have a minimalist approach to their packaging, and the line ranges from skincare to makeup. They even have a category, “For Him”, which is not only progressive, but inclusive.

I can truly appreciate the altruistic vibe these brands embody, and the creation of a 'thought' driven experience - from brand mission to consumer purchase. As springtime is about life and renewal, it just might be the perfect moment for all of us to try something new... And make a profound difference in the process, or be that change. After all, it's about beauty - from the inside out!
