Make It Up Monday – Smooth Out Wrinkles With Non-Surgical Facelifts

Surgery-Free-Facelifts

Can we all agree that gravity can sometimes not be our friend? When we look in the mirror, our faces may have a tendency to look a bit droopy or our frown lines may get deeper and it seems like no amount of concealing or contouring can help. Well, today I want to give you some information about non-surgical facelifts. This is not for everyone and you should consult your doctor beforehand of course, but knowledge is power, or at the very least, a good conversation piece.

A Botox Beaut: A Great Long-Lasting Option

I think it's safe to say that Botox is a pretty well-known process out there in this day and age – but let's speak to what it does exactly. Botox is injected into fine lines and wrinkles mainly around the upper face that temporarily relaxes the muscle which means it can no longer contract to make a wrinkle. Do you hear the song Hallelujah in the background? Yeah, me too! This treatment can last up to 3-4 months and may take a few treatments to help really deepen wrinkles. The bonus is that there are no real serious side effects!

Fill in More Confidence with Fillers

Let's talk about fillers next. Sagging skin got you down? Pun intended. Then restoring volume without surgery is just what the doctor ordered. These procedures are sometimes called Lunchtime Facelifts because they don't take long and give you an instant result. There are Restylane and Juvederm, which are fillers in the Hyaluronic acid based family. Then, there are Cosmoplast and Cosmoderm, which are in the collagen base family, Sculptra, which is in the semi-permanent arena, and Bellafill, which is a permanent filler. The Hyaluronic fillers are the most common. These are all meant to fill lines and spaces while plumping them up and are mostly done on the lower parts of the face. Results are temporary for the most part and need to be maintained over time. Side effects are little, although you can become sensitive to treatment and have allergic reactions, however, this is rare.

Transfer Fat for Less Risk

There is also a treatment called Fat Transfer which I would love to do except I would want my fat transferred to the trash if you get my drift! But this process is all about removing fat from other areas of the body and reinjecting it into the face to help with volume loss. This can be helpful with laugh lines, crows feet, lips, skin depressions, concave cheeks and other sunken areas around the face. It produces some great natural looking long-term effects. Since you are using your own fat, the body has a tendency to accept it more, in turn, reducing the possibility of infection or allergic reactions.

As Non-Surgical as it Can Get: Face Tape!

Last but not least, there is FACE tape! This is the most cost-effective and easiest way of doing a non-surgical facelift. It is a piece of tape that is stronger than normal tape attached to a stretchy string. You adhere one piece of tape to where the sideburn is on your face and another on the other side. You pull gently on the stretchy strings going back and tie it at the back of your head under a section of hair. You can do the same thing with your neck – one piece on one side of the neck or jowls and another on the other side. Then, pull gently and tie strings together at back under hair. As you pull gently on the stretchy string, you can instantly see your face become tighter and lift up. It's old school and pretty brilliant. It's a short-term problem solver and is not meant to last more than a few hours. Maybe this can be a good idea to do first to get used to the look of having a facelift. You can take a picture of your taped faced when you go to show a surgeon what you want. It's always a great thing to have a reference pic! Have any of you tried any of these treatments? What did you think about them? Let us know!
