When it comes to working as a makeup artist, lash pro or just a student in the making, lighting is monumental! The goal when photographing your work, filming your work, or perfecting your look is to have natural even lighting. We want camera ready results every time – even if we are going to the grocery store, right?! Well, maybe that's pushing it but you get my drift.

Perfect Lighting: Anywhere, Anytime.

I have a Glamcor Multimedia Extreme Light Kit that GladGirl carries. This light is popular amongst artists because you can control the LED light temperature depending on what environment you are in, which means it never gets hot. The ideal temperature is a balanced temperature called HD Daylighting, which stays around 5600K. You can modify the light arms to your liking for full light exposure onto your face or you can adjust the height of the stand to erase shadows on the face. The set has a remote control that you can pair your phone to, which allows you to film yourself or take pics with the multimedia accessory. In addition, the epic set is lightweight and easy to travel with if need be. This is an investment and a must have in your professional kit.

Lighting Is Everything!

This light is my best friend when going to work. I never know what elements I am going to walk into. If I am getting a bride ready in a hotel room or bridal suite, I always have to prepare myself to make sure the lighting is perfect. I am not sure what the natural light source will be and if there will even be enough light to saturate and fill a room adequately enough for me to do makeup properly. So having this light at my side is, without question, a must! Great tools from each trade are essential. This light takes the guesswork out of the unknown. To be at your best and work at your best potential you need to explore and compare the lighting options that are available to you. In my opinion, this light from Glamcor sets the bar. But, seeing is believing. Take a look at these pics from my two weddings this past weekend with me using it!

Let There be Light!

Let's face it, if lighting wasn't important, we would all see mismatched, unblended work that may make you run the other way! That is why it is important to get the best lighting so you can do your best work. How do you manage getting the perfect lighting every time you work? Let us know in the comments section below.
