The Met Gala is one of the biggest nights in fashion. Celebrities, fashionistas and designers put together ensembles to match the Metropolitan Museum of Art's exhibit. This year's theme was "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination." Everyone brought their own interpretation of their theme to life through gorgeous ensembles - let's review some of the outstanding beauty themes that prevailed! If you are envisioning gold and head pieces for this theme, you win! Stars like Rihanna channeled the Pope, wearing very ornate headpieces. Rihanna's makeup was altogether very subtle and understated, with a very soft smokey eye and matte nude pink lip. Not my favorite look of them all but definitely a show stopper! Kate Bosworth looked simply angelic with her crystalized veil, finger waved hair and translucent skin. Her makeup was simple and peach toned. An almost no makeup, makeup look. An overall sacred look if ever there was one. Priyanka Chopra stepped on the carpet with a deep burgundy velvet dress and a golden jeweled headpiece. Her makeup was a bit more bold with golden flecks on her eyelids, a deep burgundy lip, and bold brows. She was a showstopper! Reminiscent of Joan of Arc, Zendaya was giving life on that carpet! She was wearing a mesh metal dress that slayed, smashed and killed. Her bob haircut was fierce along with her impactful makeup. She wore just a little silver around the eye, bold brows and sheer lip. Ms. Winnie Harlow, a Canadian fashion model, spokesperson and activist, was wearing all white, which is always indicative of heaven and angels! She was a sight to behold in an organza gown that was simple yet dramatic, especially with her regal train behind her. The extravagant headdress was made of an assortment of feathers, silk orchids and lace, which added a sense of artistic architecture. Her makeup and hair really was simple and elegant, with her ensemble really bringing on the shine. Bravo! The last standout for me was Lily Collins. This theme was made for her. Her skin was dewy and a bit pale, her makeup had a gothic feel to it, her hair was slicked back and her headpiece reminded me of Lady Liberty! I mean, pow, bang, boom is all I have to say. Lily's makeup artist did a blended out smokey eye but added jewels under her lash line and a red tear drop, bold brow and a dark glossy lip. Avant-garde to the max. Overall, the Met Gala may not be everyone's taste but it pushes boundaries and creates trends. I love the risks that are taken and the overall creativity it elicits. From the fashion to the beauty, I am all-in every year!
