Rocking-Freckle

Now that fall is officially upon us, our tans are fading away along with our freckles. This made me wonder about the difference between freckles and age spots. I had never really thought about it before, to be honest. I don't have many freckles but my son has a cute cluster on and around his nose that has seemingly faded away over time. This ignited my curiosity on what freckles are and where they come from. In this article, we will be going over the answers to my questions as well as the freckled makeup look that is popping around everywhere this year.

Where do Freckles Come From?

Freckles are awesome and extremely trendy right now, so naturally, we want to know everything about the dotted look. But what exactly are freckles you ask? These little tiny lovable dots are hereditary! Freckles also help protect your skin from ultraviolet light penetrating into the deeper layers of skin because of the melanin they provide. What a bonus! Freckles can also fade and become darker depending on the amount of sun exposure you get. All so very interesting!

What is The Difference Between a Freckles and an Age Spot?

Now let's talk about age or sunspots. The main difference is that these spots are bigger than a freckle and tend to appear later in life, mainly around your 30s. These spots come into existence when there is prolonged sun exposure and the pigmented cells clump together to make an area seem dark with color. They may fade a bit but are persistent more than anything. These tend to be larger than a freckle as well – a good indicator of the difference between the two. Both types of spots discussed are harmless, but one should always wear a broad spectrum sunscreen to protect the skin we live in. If you are unsure about some spots, please always consult a doctor to use this information as power!

How to Dot on Your Own Freckles

Since this is a new trend, people are adding on their own fake freckles to their faces! If you would like to add on your own freckles because that’s how you roll, you can take an eyeliner pencil or eyebrow pencil from Glad Girl and just make small dots while gently pressing down on your face and nose wherever you would like. There ya go! Frecklemania! Let us know in the comments section what you think about adding on freckles as a makeup look and stay tuned to the Glad Lash blog for any new makeup trends this year!
