Primers

I know we have spoken about primers before and what they do and why they can be a great addition to your makeup routine. Today, I would like to highlight a few primers that I work with on the daily and explain which type of skin they are best for and what you can expect from using them. Skin prep and primers can be the most important steps in the makeup application process because they can revitalize your skin and help the makeup last longer. Let's get started!

1. MAC'S Strobe Cream

Raise your hand if you have dry skin. MAC has a product called Strobe Cream that is a primer that contains antioxidants and has a beautiful glow to it that will give your skin light feel from within. You can apply this with your fingertips all over or you can use a flat rounded tip foundation brush. You will instantly feel your skin come alive.

2. GladGirl's Prep and Prime Primer

Now for something a bit different, let’s talk about priming those eyelids! GladGirl's Prep and Prime Primer for the lids. This primer is for all, even eyelash extension enthusiasts. This product will increase the wearability of your eyeshadows and can help pigment stay in place. The perfect addition to your spring and summer make up routines.

3. Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream

Charlotte Tilbury also has her Magic Cream that can be used as a moisturizer or a primer for dry skin or most skin types! It's thick and creamy and helps to hydrate and give luminosity!

4. Benefit's POREfessional Face Primer

Raise your hands if you have big pores and oily skin. Benefit's Porefessional Face Primer is fantastic when it's applied over areas of your face where your pores are large and need to be filled before your makeup application. You don't have to apply everywhere. It's silky and it mattes the skin out.

5. Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Primer

Raise your hand if you have sensitive skin. Kevyn Aucoin has a sensual skin enhancer primer that is great for sensitive skin. It glides on and helps smooth lines and looks beautiful on the skin. I also love using Sonia Roselli's Water Balm for really dry or chapped skin. It helps relieve redness and smooths the skin before a makeup application. Of course, these products range in price. If you would like to try any of these, go to a Sephora or the makeup counter and ask for samples so you may try before you buy! And as always – drink tons of water to keep your skin hydrated always! Hope these have helped you in your search for that perfect primer for your skin type!
