Hi everyone! Welcome back to the microblading blog! If you don't know what microblading is, I suggest you start with with my first microblading post here! Today, I want to discuss how to find the perfect eyebrow shape for your face! As I'm sure you know, everyone is unique in their own special way, from our personalities to our physical appearance. So it should be no surprise when I say that no two sets of brows that brow artists produce are the same. In this post, we are going to go over the ways you can nail the perfect eyebrow shape, no matter how different the pairs you come across are!

How to Get the Right Eyebrow Shape

"...but how do I know which eyebrow style is right for me?" That's a question that I – and many other microblading specialists – often get. If you think you were never going to use math in the beauty industry, think again... While many artists use different techniques to get perfectly symmetrical brows, the technique that I have experience with is called the Golden Ratio. This method takes your own facial proportions to sculpt just the right set of brows for you. It was coined by Anastasia of Beverly Hills about a decade ago– this is her three-step process: Step 1: Brows begin directly above the middle of the nostrils. Step 2: The high part of the arch connects the tip of the nose with the middle of the iris. Step 3: Brows end where the corner of the nostril connects with the outer corner of the eye. Once we find these three points, then we can connect the dots and give you the right shape!

Preferences Trump the Ratios: Always Ask First

Of course, everyone's style is different. So I personally like to get client approval before beginning any microblading procedure. Sometimes, making alterations to the ratio is necessary to help clients leave with a set of brows they're comfortable with. I also like to recommend starting a little thinner at the beginning of your microblading procedure, because you can always add more to your touch-up. Bringing pictures of your ideal brows is always encouraged, although I strongly recommend that you find realistic styles that work closely for the face.

Blade With Confidence!

I know how overwhelming it can be getting brows permanently placed on your face. It can definitely be a big step in the right direction, as long as you and your artist can effectively communicate to bring your dream brows to life. It doesn't have to be a scary thing if done correctly. Taking time to measure your brows will help create balance in your face and may even help enhance the rest of your facial features. Plus, once your microblading artist has measured you and performed the procedure, you won't have to struggle to create the perfect shape every time--you can just fill them in with a little bit of pencil or powder (if you choose) and you're good to go!
